Mini make-over Monday

Well, i must say that I had bigger plans this weekend that just didn't happen.

You ask: What did happen?
Me: I am crazy..

It started with this place

the closest IKEA is 2.5 hours away.
I woke up on Saturday at 715am and told P that I was going to IKEA,
he said your crazy and got ready for work.

I found a friend who was awake and off we went
Later I found out that she had never been.
Well when I lived in LA I use to go with my mom almost every weekend,
crazy I know.

Well I found a lot of loot that made mini make-over monday possible.

The kitchen "Nook"

placemats $3.99 each

chair cushions for $6.99

I bought this lamp for $16.99

Napkins $1.99

All this for $44

Pretty awsome, I thought so.

Some things to change:
1. The cord of the lamp has to go
2. the table and chairs need to be painted
3. The whole kitchen needs to be re-painted.
(we painted it before we knew the beauties of pre-painting procedures)

Any mini make-overs out there?

I'm linking up this post this week.

Face your fears..

I have been told for a pretty long time now that I should put stuff on etsy and I always responded with I am in school and do not have time.

Well, that is not the case anymore so why not?

Um.. I AM SCARED?!

Well as you know, I opened my shop yesterday
Found here

I spent a lot of time researching policies and procedures.. it took a lot of time
I wanted to start small.
So I started with 5 birthday cards..

you ask: why are you so scared?

me: what if they don't sell?

you: who cares... no one died trying

me: what if someone copy's me?

you: save your ass and copyright

ok.. so i put my big girl pants on and here we go.

go check it out here

My Etsy

So .. I finally did it .. I made an etsy account. It took me all night while watching the
Oscars and its up and running.

I started with only 5 cards
Let me know what you think and if you have any input.

Thanks..

Would you like coffee with that cream?

Ok.. I don't put that much cream in my coffee everyday, but i do put it in.
I usually use coffeemate or the silk brand in vanilla.
Well, have you ever spilt that in your car or fridge?

IT IS NASTY!!
can you only imagine what it is doing to your body?
Well, P loves when things are fresh minimal ingredients and not nasty looking.
So, I jumped on a limp and found this recipe for French Vanilla Creamer

Verdict:
Pretty good and will make again, because it took no effort at all.
I do think that it can be a little sweeter and i am not sure if it is because i used 2% milk, pecan syrup, and vanilla extract.
Not sure if that makes a difference but would love to make it a tad bit sweeter next time.

This mornings breakfast (at 130p) after my 12.3 mile run.
One side peanut butter and bananas and the other cream cheese and apricot preserves.

yum yum..

are you a coffee drinker, do you like cream? try these recipes.

Who would have thought.. style

So, this morning as I was heading out the door and saying goodbye to my husband (he was still in bed) I mentioned I was being fashionable and he commented on how he liked it. This is a new revelation.
If you did or did not know me in high school.. let me tell you I was not fashion forward.
Not even a little bit.

Anything and everything I could find to wear I would and all at once.
I don't know why I did it, but I did.
I remember wearing jeans with a pj top (that looked like a dress) or an apron with jeans or rave pants with cartoon shirts you only see on what not to wear.
This was my style and it was not pretty.

I remeber when I first met P, we I made him only talk through myspace and I remember asking him if it was alright to wear jeans under my dress, this was five years ago.
( I also didn't know we would be going to such a nice place, I dated losers before P)
I don't think I did and I still remember his response.
He said why would you do that, I guess I would have to see it.
Later on he agreed that it looked ok

So now almost ten years later, it has changed.
As I tie my brown braided leater belt at my true waist and wear a blush colored button down top with skinny jeans and my brown almost knee high boots..
I feel sexy and stylish.
Who whould have thought  that would ever happen.

Have you had life altering style changes??

Show me your closet!

Thanks to Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick for posting this this series  for getting my wheels going
because it brought up one thing.. my coat closet in my entry way
IT NEEDS A LOT OF HELP.
(& do I really want to show it to the public, yes it is that bad)

With the help of pinterest I found these inspiring pictures

what do you think? What does your closet look like?

Did you know.. peanut butter & bananas

Peanut butter

Misconception: This creamy spread is an indulgence best enjoyed occasionally because it's high in fat and calories.
Why it's good for you:At least five major studies confirm that eating peanuts can lower risk for coronary heart disease. So it's no leap to think that peanut butter confers the same benefits. "Suffice it to say that eating peanut butter or peanuts has been associated with lower total cholesterol, lower ldl or 'bad' cholesterol, and lower triglycerides, all of which are associated with lower cardiovascular disease risk," says Richard Mattes, Ph.D., R.D., a professor of nutrition at Purdue University.

Bananas

Bananas have two times as many carbohydrates as an apple, five times as much Vitamin A and iron and three times as much phosphorus. In addition, bananas are also rich in potassium and natural sugars.
All of these factors combined make the banana a “super food” that is an integral part of a healthy daily regimen.Because of the abundance of vitamins and minerals, bananas are a great source of natural energy.
Eating only two bananas will give you enough energy to exercise or workout for an hour and a half.
Bananas are also ideal for eating during that midday lull when you feel tired and sluggish.
Instead of drinking caffeine or having a sugary snack, bananas provide a level of energy that lasts longer without the dramatic crash caused by caffeine.
I was looking for a snack after my swim and wanted to indulge but be good at the same time. I found this recipe on pinterest and new I would be in love. Wh doesn't love peanut butter and bananas.. not this girl.. love that combo

I used a whole wheat tortilla and warmed in up on my stove to make it soft and warm, spread some peanut butter on it and it melted and rolled it up and sliced into pieces and all these benefits.. SCORE!

You go Henry!

So last week, we met henry on this post
For those of you who forgot, this is what he looked like

Well after a few coats of primer, paint and stripes.. yup I said it. STRIPES, here he is now..

From the side, the side and top got the stripes

New Recipe .. Week #6

I skipped 4 WEEKS, sorry guys I did try new recipes maybe I'll go and fill them in one day..
We have a double header today..

First up, We have Creamy white chicken and artichoke lasagna
Found here

DELICIOUS!!
I thought this would be good, I did not think this would be GREAT!! because you need to get everything you need and make it RIGHT NOW..

Second, a twist on chocolate dipped strawberries
Spiced chocolate cover strawberries.

I was sent a recipe that called for: coconut oil, ancho chili powder, strawberries. and semi-sweet chocolate.

I got crazy and mixed it up:

I used dark chocolate, mexican chili powder and strawberries.
I always buy dark chocolate chocolate chip.
I microwaved them for 1 min stirred and for 30 more secs and stirred added a couple sprinkles of chili powder and dipped away.

They look like regular chocolate cover strawberries which are always delicious but have subtle kick..
yum.

Have you tried any new recipes this week?

The artist

The artist is a new movie it has been up for a ton of awards, if you live under s rock.

It is completely silent.
We went to go see it last weekend at a local indie theatre in town.
I don't know what it was, mainly because it was so different to the things we are use to,
but OMG it was so good. I went with a couple other friends and they all agreed.

When we put words aside there is so much more that we pay attention to..
the music, specific body movements, gestures, and facial expressions.

Have you seen any movies lately that you thought were awsome, weird, and indifeerent?
